On May 9, 2025, the Veterans Affairs Clinic in Cadillac, Michigan, was officially dedicated as the Duane E. Dewey Department of Veterans Affairs Clinic. This honor recognizes Corporal Duane E. Dewey, a local hero and Medal of Honor recipient for his extraordinary bravery during the Korean War.
In 1952, after being wounded by an enemy grenade, Dewey used his own body to shield a second grenade, saving the lives of his fellow Marines. He received the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1953 for his selfless actions.
The clinic now offers a range of services, including primary care, mental health, laboratory services, physical therapy, telemedicine, women’s health, audiology, and whole health services. A memorial display inside the clinic ensures that Dewey’s legacy continues to inspire future generations.
